The second session of this Short Course aims to give an understanding, and an experience, of ‘space’ at the knee joint.  While the experience is subjective, this space at the knee joint is an objective reality.  The layer of cartilage between the thigh bone (femur) and the shin bone (tibia) is called the meniscus, and it acts as a shock absorber when we stand, run or walk.  This meniscus. as well as the ligaments inside the knee can be injured or wear our due to postural issues.  The reduces ‘space’ between the thigh and the shin, causing painful, inflammed knees, that ultimately leads to arthritic conditions at the knee.

This session discuss several ways to create and maintain space at the knee joint, in both straight and flexed knee.  Many of the actions and positions shown in this session can be practiced therapeutically to bring relief when the knee is in an aggravated condition.
