There is straight legs – and then there is ABSOLUTELY straight legs – and the difference between the two is astounding! In asanas, the ability to truly straighten the back of the legs can transform the experience of everything from standing asanas to forward and backward extensions, and even inverted positions.
Note:
- Many of the asanas in this session involve strong abdominal action, and are not recommended for women during menstruation, and for any with abdominal conditions like diarrhoea, dysentery, recent abdominal surgery
- These actions are also not recommended for those with back injury/ weakness
- In our experience, while most people benefit from the action of pressing the thighs back to straighten the area behind the knees, some people have over-stretched tissues in the back of the knees, and this action is not recommended for them. Search for ‘knee hyper-extension’ in our portal to look for appropriate adaptations.
