The session is in two segments.  in the first segment, there are simple drills for the feet, ankles and toes that can be attempted by anyone – these are not classical asana positions. In the second segment, we attempt a few standing asanas with additional supports and additional focus on the feet, to explore the difference/ improvements.

This session may be done as a stand-alone session, but it is also part of the Short Course Stability and Mobility of the Feet: Toes, Ankles, Arches and More (Short Course, Level: Gentle).  You can save by renting the entire Course.

Description

The feet, toes snd ankles form the lower extremity of the body.  They different from the upper extremities – hands and wrists – in some interesting ways.  Whereas the hands are entrusted with more sensitive and delicate tasks, the feet have to bear the weight of the body.  Even though there are several joints in the feet area, often there is loss of mobility because with our modern lifestyles, our demands from these joints is very low. While this stiffening up might not manifest in. any overt discomfort immediately, it does compromise the resilience of the feet, making them more prone to injuries.  As we age, the stiffening of the toes indicates a withdrawal of vitality from the extremities. In the context of asanas, we will often feel limited in intermediate and advanced asanas unless we have sufficient mobility and stability in the feet.
