Description
The first segment of this session comprises arm and shoulder actions that activate the sides of the chest – the side lungs. This is a recurring theme in this Short Course: that our main respiratory organs, the lungs, are not situated at the front of the body, but can sometimes be accessed more effectively through the sides of the body, and the back body.
All the sessions of this Short Course are meant for ‘learning’. Since this Short Course is designed to make sense even to relative beginners, we start each session with a more generic segment that sensitises/ activates/ warms-up the focus area – the thoracic area comprising the front, back and the sides. Indeed, for a healthy practitioner, it is important to appreciate, that ALL asanas have the potential to help us in a variety of ways, and a balanced practice will strengthen ALL systems within us. In any case the more specific and therapeutic aspects of asanas practice are through modifications and adaptations of the basic asanas. Therefore, for a healthy practitioner, it is important to learn the basic asanas, and be familiar with them, so they can quickly learn how to adapt them in case of any ailments or life conditions. This session is suitable even for relative beginners, detailed instructions are included for all positions.
The second segment of the session (starting 25th minute) goes into positions and actions that specifically benefit in case of respiratory discomfort. If you are already in a state of respiratory discomfort, pl. refer to our FREE Resource
